2010 Hong Kong Hiking Meetup Highlights
2011 was a terrific year for the Hiking Meetup Group.
Our membership doubled and is now at over 4,500 registered members - although we note that many are lurkers rather than hikers. We should focus on getting them out into the hills next year.
This year saw a huge growth in outings. There is now an outing nearly every day of the week - with an average of nearly 10 hikes organized each week. Choice for everybody.
But we do more than hike:
We have also helped out, and raised money for, Oxfam and Unison. This year we raised $420,000 for Unison and HK$540,000 for Oxfam - a huge increase on the previous year. We also raised $26,000 for famine relief this year with our hike and picnic at Parkview. We had 17 teams in Oxfam Trailwalker and many normal hikers turned out to support as well - thank you everyone.
We also PARTY! We have had picnics, fund raising parties and look out for the annual party in February.
This year we saw various people organize hikes overseas as well as at nights in Hong Kong. There were hikes in, China, Nepal and Europe, with many members of meetup also doing events in Nepal (Action Asia) and racing up Mount Kinabalu. Look out for the overseas events next year as they fill up fast!

9. $50,000/$323,253/540,000 raised for Oxfam Trailwalker past 3 years

11. 2nd year in a row, we are the official cleanup group for Oxfam Trailwalker
