We are a group of volunteers from different background with an aim to serve HK community. The diversity of this group makes us special and we have gained experiences from many past projects. If you are interested to serve in any capacity, please look at below schedule and hope you find the project worth serving.
The Year in Review
2012 was our best year yet. Our membership has risen yet again to 2,200 members – up 1,040 from last year. Similarly the number of scheduled events has gone up to 126 this year, from 107 last year.
To organise all these new events, our assistant organizers continue play vital roles. let's give big hands to Janet, Anita, Linda, Winnie, and Ailin for their unfailing supports, also to loads of event hosts who have been hosting events during the year.
Our charity work continues unabated. We helped even more charities and voluntary organisations this year, including: Oxfam, Unison, Moontrekker, Jumpstart Interns, Jordan Government Primary School, St Teresa Kindergartens, Wan Chai Methodist Center, HK Family Welfare Society, Samaritans, Zheng Sheng College, Slutwalk, UNHCR, Society for The Relief of Disabled, China Care Fund, Hospice Care Society and Sandy Bay Charity.
Of the most significant, we helped Unison raise half a million dollars – even more than the $420,000 last year.
Oxfam Trailwalker was similar to last year – up $10,000 to $550,000.
We also connected 6 student interns through Jumpstart Interns with a network of hikers companies – many thanks to all those organisations concerned.
We are also very proud to have won a Gold award from Hong Kong Country Cleaning for most team spirit – we all know how much team spirit our Group has
Finally – our most significant communications event since inception - we launched the Hong Kong Volunteers facebook page which now has over 500 fans.
