This month's selection is The Hundred Thousand Kingdoms by NK Jemisin. It is the first installment in Jemisin's Inheritance Trilogy, as well as being her debut novel. Yeine Darr is an outcast from the barbarian north. But when her mother dies under mysterious circumstances, she is summoned to the majestic city of Sky. There, to her shock, Yeine is named an heiress to the king. But the throne of the Hundred Thousand Kingdoms is not easily won, and Yeine is thrust into a vicious power struggle with cousins she never knew she had. As she fights for her life, she draws ever closer to the secrets of her mother's death and her family's bloody history.

With the fate of the world hanging in the balance, Yeine will learn how perilous it can be when love and hate - and gods and mortals - are bound inseparably together.

Not sure I'm gonna make it tonight. Really good book, though. Bummed about maybe not getting to hear what everybody else thought.

Pretty light on the comments so far. I've picked up the book, but haven't yet had a chance to start. Everyone else doing well with it?

I'm about 60% through. I don't think you're missing much, Eddie. It's not bad, but... it seems sort of like Amber without the magic. I don't care for the story much but the writing is good.

Picked it up. Havent gotten far but the style of writing has been off for me. Hard to say why but doesn't seem to flow as I like.

Read it in less than a day (totally confused but could not put it down) and by the end of it i was like...huh, did not see that coming. I liked that it was not too predictable for me. I will have to reread it again, maybe less confused this time.

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.
