That's a very difficult question. There are several authors that I follow along with, but that doesn't necessarily mean I like all of their work. I do like Brandon Sander's work, John Scalzi, Robert Jordan, and many others.
I just finished "Good Luck Yukikaze" by Chohei Kambayashi. It's the second book in a trilogy, and I highly recommend it for those you like philosophical sci-fi.
Twice a month
Anywhere inside the 610 loop is good for me! Further out perhaps if it's only once a month.
Someplace where you can hear other people talk. If that's a quiet coffee shop, then cool. A library conference room, community center, or something to that effect might be better.
I'm an avid reader of fantasy and sci-fi novels mainly from US, British, and Japanese authors. The most recent sci-fi book I've completed is "Good Luck Yukikaze" by Chohei Kambayashi.
