hi everyone i just have a question about these meetups. are these a consistent Thursday meetup? also, is there a place for someone who is a complete beginner like myself? if not- totally understandable but i am originally a classically trained violinist but have a great ear and work hard. would love to join if someone can show me the basics of some of the chords. where is the location?

Hi I'll try again. (meetup doesn't like me hitting the return button). We actually meet the 2nd and 4th sat. at 11 am (more or less) at Red River BBQ on Mason. there is also a 1st Thrusday meetup inside the loop 7pm. There is also one N. of town, I don't remeber thier schedule off hand, but they have it posted on the website. No skill level is required, we have several beginners. The only requirement is to have fun. As far as chords, there are several good websites with beginning info and lots of books too. I would recommend chords to start learning:C, G , D, C7, G7, Hawaiian D7 . Then F and A..These are all pretty easy. That should cover a majority of pieces. Lucky you, your fingers already are pretty tough and strong!

Unfortunately, I need to go to the woodlands this morning, so it may make me a little late. I have some good music though! Looking forward to jamming with everyone.

OK, I am bringing: Tom Dooley, Go Tell It On The Mountain, Clementine (only 2 chords, for beginners!), Morning Has Broken, Let Me Call You Sweetheart, Amazing Grace. Most are simple arrangements for beginners. I'd you can bring music, 6 copies should be enough and please test your music in advance to make sure the arrangement is playable and sounds good. So far no one in our group seems beyond the Intermediate level so we need to keep it simple :). See ya' there.

Thanks for keeping it simple. I don't think I even qualify as an intermediate player.

Except for the first meetup, I keep missing out. When do you think we'll meet again? I have to work on May 11th but I'll keep trying.

I think I can make this. Certainly going to try. The location's a bit far for me but I have more time for driving on Saturdays.
