Hi there, I'm Chris. I'm a longtime anime and manga fan and have been coming to meetups for this group for over a year now. I teach elementary school music by trade and am a huge music and movie geek as well.
R.O.D. TV, Paranoia Agent, Nadesico, Kino's Journey, Dragon Half, and Full Metal Alchemist, to name a few.
I go to the San Diego Comic Con every summer, which is awesome. I've also been to numerous smaller anime conventions.
I was searching for anime in Houston and this group came up thanks to Google.
I'm a renter. I've always been a renter, but Netflix has eliminated the difficulty of finding a cool store that rents anime. I do buy some stuff, but I have to be really into it.
"I also review movies and music and concerts at http://reviewingchris.com
. It'll give you a nice picture of what other kinds of things I'm into."
Yay, meetups!

"The storyline is great. Even in the North American cut, there's a ton of strategy and story to the battles. There's a lot of spectacular John Woo action, but it's mostly in service to the story itself...."
Neon Genesis Evangelion Movie out Yesterday...
"The Evangelion manga was an adaptation of the original anime (instead of the other way around, how it usually happens). So no, it's not closer to the manga."
"The Fourth Kind is much worse than Paranormal Activity in terms, because it's not true, either. PA made it seem like it was actual footage, but none of the marketing actually claimed that it was...."
"Well, if you ever watch the documentary Overnight, about the making of the original Boondock Saints, you'll see that writer/director Troy Duffy and his arrogance and attitude basically pissed off everyone in Hollywood, to the point where his career w..."
"So glad that I am no longer in retail."
"I always enjoyed Akira from a visual and action standpoint, but thought the storytelling was a muddled mess. Then a few years ago I checked out the manga from my library and suddenly it all made sense...."
MONTHLY MAYHEM: The Night Before Christmas Friday December 4, 2009 10:00 PM!
"If I go to anything on December 4, it's going to be Black Dynamite, at midnight over at River Oaks."
"Not really into Hatebreed, but the next two metal shows I'm going to will be Baroness on Tuesday, Dec. 8 at Warehouse Live and Between the Buried and Me on January 11."
"Good to see a lot of the folks I haven't seen in quite a while!"
"Yes, that's a good point. When I went in 2006 it only took 2.5 hours to get in and then in 2007 it was a brief 90 minutes! Oni-Con has always been a paragon of good organization and line management...."
