The grammar of graphics provides a helpful framework for creating data visualizations that are useful for analysis. ggplot2 is an R package that uses this framework to help the statistician go beyond the base plotting functions of R to create elegant graphics, from bar plots or scatter plots on to customized statistical graphics.
Jonathan Stewart will lead an interactive talk that will cover the basics of ggplot2. Computers are not required for the talk to be helpful and informative, however, attendees will be able to follow the talk and get practice implementing the methods through hands on learning examples.
Graphics covered will be histogram, scatterplot, bar plot, and, if time permits, geographical data visualizations, as well as many desired aesthetics (color, point size, etc.)
The talk does not presume any knowledge of ggplot2.
