Tamales are a staple at family gatherings and holidays in some Mexican families. You can learn to make these tasty tamales for the upcoming holidays and to enjoy throughout the year.
Iris' mother, Lupita, makes an amazing family recipe for tamales. Lupita will actually be purchasing some of the ingredients in Matamorros, Mexico for our class. It doesn't get any more authentic than this. ;o)
When you arrive, feel free to serve yourself appetizers and beverages. After everyone is present, Lupita will start the class. She will tell us how the tamales are made in Spanish, and an HSLM member will translate in English just in case. Everyone will get to make two tamales in class. Juanita and I will be available to help. We'll have a Q & A session too.
After we make the tamales, we'll sit down to have a tamale dinner. There will be three types of tamales: pork, chicken, and beans. These tamales will be paired with beans and pico de gallo. After dinner, we will have fresh fruit and tres leches for dessert.
The class and dinner are $20 per person. ;o) You may pay in person, the day of the event in cash.
It is very important that your RSVP is accurate. Juanita & Lupita are buying ingredients for our cooking class. And a large commercial kitchen is being secured to host this event. The last day to RSVP is Nov 14th because they will be shopping for ingredients that day & preparing for our class. Please update your RSVP as needed.
