Moste Potente Potables (Potions Class)

  • This location is shown only to members

Those “liquids that creep through human veins, bewitching the mind, ensnaring the senses” are not confined to just potions.  Modern mixology is also a subtle science and exact art.  In this 1 hour class you will get a hands-on introduction to the basics of drink making.

We will taste the most common base alcohols & mixers.  We will also review basic barware.  The last 1/3 of the class will be a practical “quiz.”  The students will take the ingredients & techniques discussed to create a cocktail that will be graded. Those with the highest scores shall receive awards.

Because of the alcoholic nature of the class, participants must be over 21.  IDs will be checked at the door.

The class will last one hour followed by two hours of mandatory detention. In order to participate in this class, you will be asked to confirm that you are staying until 6 PM.

Please bring an hors d'oeuvres to share with the class.

YOU MUST EAT A FULL MEAL BEFORE ARRIVING!

The shared hors d'oeuvres are for the sobering up detention period, after imbibing in class. We do not wish to incur any DWI infractions.

We are charging $25 for this event which includes $20 for class supplies and $5 for the Club House rental. ($1 surcharge if using a Credit Card for Paypal fees.)

You can transfer funds through https://www.paypal.com/ to Rach at [masked]

What a wonderful class! I learned so much from our most excellent potions master, Rachel. She gave us lots of information. I had a lot of fun making my own potion as well. Thank you Rachel for all of the incredible work you did putting the class together and teaching it!

Thank you, Rach, for teaching this potions class - really informative! Thank you, also, to all who brought food, helped to set up or clean up.

17 minutes left til the food comes out of the oven. Does that constitute a proper excuse for (possible) tardiness?

    March 15, 2014

  • Nicole (.

I might be a little late. Hopefully not more than an hour late. I hope that's okay.

    March 14, 2014

    • Rach

You better have a note. House points can be taken for unexcused tardiness. ;-)
But seriously, you are going to miss a lot. Try NOT to be late.

      Okay professor rach!

I was going to bring a cheese plate, but I don't know if it can last that long without being refrigerated. So I'll bring some trail mix. I hope no one has a nut allergy.

For food items, please make sure they are able to sit out without refrigeration or reheating. The refrigerator will be full with class supplies & the clubhouse no longer has a microwave.

To all those attending, please check your email. You should have received a Letter from Hogwarts Thursday night that you MUST reply to.

To the half who did reply, because you did so in a timely manner you got your first choice.

Janelle, I am sorry you will not be able to attend. Normally we have more flexibility on the number of attendees and welcome guests. I hope to see you at another Meetup soon.

So when are spots opening up?

      February 1, 2014

    • delma

They are open now. I sent an email this morning to you (and the others on the wait list) letting you know that you can pay. Payment is due by Monday at 2PM. After Rach confirms your payment, I will update the RSVP list manually to add your name to the attendees. Since we are short on time - it would be helpful if you also comment here or send me an email to let me know you have paid. We are short on time and need to get a minimum of 12 before supplies can be ordered.

      1 · February 1, 2014

  • delma

Let me clarify that at this point in time this event is full. We will only open it up to additional attendees if a minimum number of the original 19 do not pay by the 1/31/14.

    January 8, 2014

    • delma

Janelle, I apolize if you if you recieved an email requesting payment. I intended to send that email to the 19 who are listed as "attending". If at least 12 do not pay by the deadline, I will open up the RSVPs and give those listed as "want a spot" an opportunity to pay. Due to the room size constraints, we are only accepting payment from the 19 listed as "attending" at this time.

      1 · January 9, 2014

    • Rach

& let me clarify on the other half of the question. If you are one of the 19, pay by Jan 31st & cancel less than 1 week before the class (Like if you don't show up on that day.) no, you will not get a refund. If you cancel between Feb 1 - March 8th, whether you get a refund or not is dependent on if we can get someone else to pay for your spot. The fee is so I can buy supplies for the class, which must be purchased ahead of time.

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
