Description Of Trails: This is one of the premier trails in Northern Virginia. In 2012, Fountainhead's single track under went a $100,000 facelift. The amazing flow & trail design reflect the jaw dropping price tag. The first 2 loops are packed with short steep climbs and unbelievable bobsled like descents.

Loop 1, The Green Loop, is now 2.22 miles. Loop 2, the Blue Loop is 4.77 miles and the unchanged Black Loop is still 3.93 miles. Most bike grade GPS’s measure the entire trail distance at 10.9 miles long.  The sections that have been added and improved upon so far (as of May 2012) are a great addition to the park. The trails are smooth and flowing with lots of banked turns.

WHAT TO WEAR : Helmets are required to ride the park. Wear comfy clothing that does not restrict your movement.

BRING WITH YOU : Mountain Bike with NO issues equipped with rugged off road mtb tires, Necessary bike tools, Spare tubes, tube pump, gopro, camera, snacks , 1 to 2 liter hydration

This was an awesome event even though Fountain Head was closed. We went to Richmond and rode instead. The loop we did was super fun and challenging.

the back up plan , for the back up plan, due to all this rain. Should fountainhead stay closed like it looks like it will ,we are gonna go ride the next best thing & mtb rva. If rva gets rained out we go to freedom..if it rains in wburg, tammy t will treat everyone to happy hour @ the bar of your choice! hahahahahahahaha

Guys, i hope everybody has received my last 3emails? If not the plan is as follows...hampton roads folks are still meeting at the carpool in newport news. We will call fountainhead 7 am for trail update [masked]) . If fountainhead is closed the ride is moving to freedom or new quarter in williamsburg. From one of the weather forecast , there looks to be a 10% chance precip from 10am - 5pm. I called & talked to the park directly today & they said they will update trail status by 7amish on their facebook or by phone message.

Hello fellow MTB'ers. I know it's been a while - but I've had a very active spring and summer and have not been able to attend many of the MTB adventures.
I am in serious need of a new mountain bike (mine doesn't have ANY shox) and funds do not permit it this year.
Unless I can get a friend to loan me theirs or when funds become available next year, I plan to join back in with all of you.
Even if I don't ride, if you ever stop somewhere to eat, let me know and I'd still like to join you.
    -Enjoy this hot metal summer!

Pray to whatever master or perform whatever ritual to prevent rain for this mtb event! This place is even more sensitive about closing their park when it comes to rainfall than freedom park .
