A call to arms...

...well, not really arms; it just sounded good. I'm looking for any of you who may be willing to share your time and expertise with the group for about an hour anytime you're free. I'd like to set up some "skills-sharing" get-togethers for the meetup and I'm looking for anyone who would like to share just a little of what they know with the others in the group who have had less, little, or no experience in your area of knowledge. You don't need to be a teacher or master to do this. For example; you could share your knowledge of trails to hike in the area and how/what to pack for a day or overnight trip. You could introduce others to climbing or camping or kayaking or running or hang-gliding or bodyboarding or mountain-biking or............. see what I mean? All I'm looking for is people in the group who love their outdoor sport or adventure of choice, and who are willing to talk a little bit about it to the group, and maybe show a little of the equipment involved, and how to use it or where to buy it, and help others get excited about your outdoor pastime. The more people you get interested, the more potential sports-mates you can call on when you want to get outside! What do you think? Interested in sharing?

Next; you know how you always end up with sports gear that seemed like a good idea when you bought/got it, but somehow you haven't needed it now for the last XXX amount of seasons?? What do you all think about a seasonal sports gear swap? I've been thinking about doing this for a long time! Say every six months we get together and bring all our sports/outdoor stuff we're not using anymore, set it up for all to see, and horse-trade/swap/buy/sell with each other and everybody walks away with some old gear they don't use anymore gone, and hopefully with some new useful gear, and probably with some new friends to share the outdoors with. Tents, skis, bikes, scuba, snowshoes, PWC's, kayak, whatever! What do you say?? Sound like a plan? If you like these ideas you'll see a couple of new meetups on the calendar in the near future.

Let me know.
