I think the swap meet is a great idea! I am currently looking to buy a kayak.... working on getting the gear first....
Lawrence: I have canoe experience and a couple of kayak lessons and several kayaking day-trips "under my belt" - anytime you'd like to go out and need company I'm game!!!
I'd love to go on the Hammocks Beach overnight if there is a spare kayak

Count me in - I can probably fuddle my way through most backpacking,
camping and kayaking topics.
Open invite - I have three kayaks, a capella 166, pungo 140 and a
Tsunami 120, if you are interested in kayaking, don't have the gear
and want to take a spin on the water let me know and we can get
together and go for a short paddle. Afraid you have to wear a PFD and
the only spare one I have is a womens so you are on your own for that
part of it, everything else I pretty much have.
Gear swap sounds like a good idea, maybe in conjunction with a picnic?
As for trips - I was thinking about trying to put together a group
whitewater trip to West Virginia this year. Found a guide company that
does overnight rafting type trips....
