Announcing a new meeting for Tidewater Hampton Roads Camping & Outdoor Adventures!

What: 1st Annual Outdoor Adventure Gear Swap and Cookout

When: Saturday, July 12, 1:00 PM

Where: (A location for this meeting hasn't been chosen yet)

Who should come: Everybody who has excess camping or outdoor adventure gear that they'd love to get rid of, and everybody who loves "horse-trading" or buying used gear for a great deal should join us to buy, sell, or swap a variety of gadgets, gear, and equipment.

Why: Every year some of those new toys we just HAD to have end up collecting dust in our garages, closets and attics. It's not that anything is wrong with them; we just found ourselves more interested in something else. Now you can clean out and clean up!

Meeting Description: Come show, swap, browse, buy, sell, or donate your outdoor gear and clothing at the THRCOA Outdoor Adventure Gear Swap and Cookout! I'm working on a suitable location now. Anybody have a huge property they want to share for a day in July?

When: the swaps and picnic / meet & greet run from 1pm to 6pm. We will need volunteers to serve and cook the food and clean up at the end of the event, and I am asking cash donations of $5.00 per person for the food from any who would rather just pay than bring food. Eat and drink what you like when you like. If you prefer to donate food and/or drink you need to coordinate with me well in advance of the event to make sure we have everything covered.

Saturday, July 12th

Got surplus outdoor gear or clothing? Bring them and bring your own table or blanket for display. We don't care what you have; skis, PWC's, bikes, tents, kayaks, snowboards, parachutes, surfboards, helmets, pads, wetsuits, fins, fishing gear, coolers, sleeping bags, outdoor clothes, climbing gear, SCUBA, you name it! We all have a ton of stuff we rarely or never use anymore, right? Well set it up and show it to others who want your stuff! Label it with the original (or current) retail value, and the year of purchase to help determine a "bargaining value". Then trade or sell it to those who need what you don't. Your no-longer-used stuff becomes somebody else's new outdoor fun!

Just show up between 1 pm and 6pm with cash and a need for new outdoor fun!

Show up at 11am and set up your already labled gear on a table or blanket that you bring with you. Bring a friend to watch your stuff while you browse other people's stuff to buy or swap.

Donate if it doesn't sell:

Either drop off your gear to the organizer the day of Swap for a donation or, if your gear doesn't sell or swap as well as you hoped, you can donate it to the Children's Education Foundation and we will give you a receipt for fair market value. All proceeds will benefit the Children's Education Foundation, a 501c3 nonprofit founded to help ensure that all kids have equal access to books and education supplies regardless of income.

Any gear left on-site at the end of the event will be considered a donation.

Come on out, bring your friends and family, share some chow, make some new friends and get, or get rid of, some fun outdoor gear!
