Hey all,
An idea that was floating around at the last Meetup was the possibility of starting and working on an open source project as a group. I think this is a great idea. Someone suggested a public service project, perhaps even something educational. Be thinking about something we could take on as a group and post your ideas here or bring them to the next Meetup. Let's try to identify a project this month and get something rolling at the beginning of 2011! Bryan |

Are you thinking like a gem/application/website/etc... that the entire Ruby community may be interested in .. or a project for some specific local organization?

My thought was something the Ruby community would be interested in (e.g. http://tryruby.org/)...

Cool. I'll be thinking.

We could start super simple (projects always are more complex than initially thought) and maybe just start with a public directory of local tech community like http://nshvll.org/...

I like simple, yah.
Another though: has anyone written anything in an application recently that is a good candidate to pull out common code as a gem? Or even if not that specific code, any idea for a gem that may make folk's life a bit easier? |

I really like Enrique's idea. Huntsville has a lot of talent and it would be nice to have a central source to see who does what.

Have we settled on an idea? How do we want to get started?

BTW, I purchased hntsvll.org a while back and would love to donate it to the group for our project.
