Mobile Website Development

With the rapid growth in usage of the mobile devices to access the web, it is important that website content we produce can be consumed across desktop and mobile browsers. But, building mobile-optimized websites for is distinct from building experiences for desktop computers. This session will give you the tips you need to start developing mobile versions of your website and applications.

Presenters:

Tunde Ashafa - Tunde will walk us through the ins and outs of developing a mobile website, taking into consideration the differences between designing websites and apps for mobile versus other platforms.

Tunde is the Principal Developer at Hill Holliday, a full service marketing firm.

Jeff Boulay - Jeff will show us how to develop mobile websites and apps using jQuery Mobile, an open source jQuery framework for building interactive experiences in mobile browsers and apps.

Jeff Boulay is  Director of Interactive Design at Neoscape.

We will be meeting at Thompson Reuters, 22 Thomson Place, Boston, MA in the Nasdaq Room. I want to give another special thank you to Marcelo Paiva for helping us secure the space for tonight's event.

Hey all just to note I have been in talks with Riche about having deep dive talks about A given subject. We are also listening to your feedback on what you want to see. Keep in mind that a deep dive would have to be a longer meetup as otherwise it would just turn into a lightning copy paste fest to create a meaningful app in 30min.

Good point @YiwenGao I unfortunately missed that part of the presentation also. @RicheZamor do you know if Tunde Ashafa has slides from the presentation that he can post on this wall?

This was a good introduction, but I was hoping for more detail and specifics on html5. Maybe some handouts, how to's, getting started and
more time for questions - questions are indicative of the real world problems that people are struggling with. I will definitely attend another
    meetup on this topic.

It was my first meetup event I've attended and I really enjoyed it. Smart people who really want to help each other out.

Loved the second presentation (jQuery mobile framework) -- very complete and just the right amount of detail to be applicable.

First presentation was slow to get started and covered content at a high level.
Second presenter was strong and well prepared for the topic

Presentations needed more action. OK for introduction, but a bit boring if you know more about web development. Presenters mostly read from their slides.

I felt that the meetup was ok. I feel that there was more information and less interaction and this cause the lapse in time in order for people to feel out questions. Perhaps, questions can be held to the very end or there is a designated amount of time and people who can ask questions.

I would have liked more real world examples and actually working through a process of creating a working example of mobile app with jQuery mobile.

Unfortunately, I need to stay late for work and will no longer be able to attend the workshop tonight. Will there be slides or information posted on the event?
