I had forgotten to check the errata entry from Bob's link (thanks Bob) so I ended up making it "aside id=articleaside" and changed the CSS accordingly and that seemed to work as well.

In my opinion, the correct alternative use for the <aside> element in the step 11 on page 122 should be <aside class="articleaside"­>
