--- Mark Couch, President and chief investigator for the Franklin Chapter of the Humane Society, assisted Winnsboro Police in breaking up a dog fight in process earlier this week. One suspect was arrested on site; others fled the scene. Mark was asked to enter the makeshift ring to pull the dogs apart, who were locked together. Mark and an officer pried the dog's mouths apart and they are both being nursed back to health. The story received wide-spread coverage
--- We are working with Jefferson Davis Parish deputies to provide aid for a donkey whose hooves are profoundly overgrown. The hooves are so long, the donkey can barely stand up. We have offered to pay all medical bills and will offer to get a ferrier out to the scene as well
----Last week, our chief investigator in Evangline Parish, Gary Ardoin, assisted sheriff's deputies with the seizure of three neglected horses. One had already been killed by the owner, after the horse was stricken with an unknown aliment and could not longer stand. Today, our representative in the area will be meeting with the district attorney to review the case.
