Important Court Case this Friday, February 1st. All Are Welcome to Attend

Dear Friends,

Four years ago,  Phantom, a member of the NOPD canine unit, fell down an elevator shaft and was left to die. Sgt. Randy Lewis, Phantom's handler, has been charged, rightfully so, with malfeasance, for falsifying his reports regarding Phantom's death, and the closing arguments will be heard this Friday, February 1st at 1:30PM in Section C of Orleans Parish Criminal District, Section C, Judge Ben Willard presiding.

All of you are invited to attend this trial to show your support for Phantom.  I will be out of town and unable to attend, but two fellow humane investigators, Larry Maxwell and Michael Gonzales, will be on the courthouse steps from 1: 15 to 1: 30, in case you would like to join them.  They will be in uniform - white shirt and black pants - with an insignia that reads, "Humane Animal Response Team."  They welcome your support as well.  Paid parking is available in a lot located at Gravier and Broad.

The story has been covered widely in the media:
