Put a plate of food at the bottom of the tree. He will come down.

Dear Folks,

Sometimes cats climb up trees, get lodged or climb too high and are unable to come down!  After a few days, they become dehydrated and their internal organs can fail, causing permanent damage or even death.  We received a report on Craig's list that said a grey cat has been up a tree for almost a week on Esplanade, near Bywater and the Quarter.

The local fire department was unable to successfully reach the cat.  In times like these, we usually hire a tree cutting service.  Many of them have the skills and equipment to climb and successfully capture cats, no matter how high they are.  Unfortunately, their services generally run $175.00 and our budget is maxed out at the moment.

If you are so inclined, could all or some members of this group chip in towards this emergency expense?  If so, please donate online through our Facebook page (The Humane Society of Louisiana) or on our website at

Kindly respond if you are able to help.

Sincerely yours,

Jeff Dorson
