Dear Friends,

The Humane Society of Louisiana offers a variety of volunteer opportunities that can easily fit into everyone's schedule.  Our group was established in New Orleans 1988, and we have a long history of advocating for the protection of animals, whether it is in the classroom, the State Capitol or in the courtroom.  Our group also operates a no-kill animal sanctuary located in Tylertown, Mississippi.  To encourage a healthy plant-based diet and lifestyle, our group also started the New Orleans Vegetarian Society which has more than 500 members.  For more information, please visit us at meetup.com, as well.

There are any number of ways to get involved as a volunteer.  Here is just a partial list:

- join our investigations department.  These volunteers respond to hundreds of complaints each year by visiting households or businesses where abuse may be taking place or by working with law enforcement officials to ensure that the animal protection laws are upheld.  We also have volunteer caseworkers who monitor complaints, once they have been filed with our organization.  These volunteers meet throughout the year.

-  join our humane education department and become one of our pet care educators!  These volunteers visit schools, YMCAs, nursing homes and other venues throughout the year, educating the young and old about the need to properly care for all animals.

        - join our outreach team and help us man tables and booths at different            festivals and events around town.

       We also encourage you to join our group as a dues-pay member.  Dues 

       are only $20.00 for individual or $35.00 for family.  Checks may be sent
