Discussion Group: Women in Secularism

Join the HOC's book group at our new home in the Secular Hub!  Our January discussion is on the topic of Women in Secularism.  The discussion will be based on a series of articles in the December 2013/January 2014 issue of Free Inquiry magazine under the title, "Highlights From 'Women In Secularism 2'" (pp. 18-31).  One of the articles is available online.  If you would like to read the whole series, you can obtain a copy of the magazine at many bookstores and libraries.

The list of articles with links (as available):

• "Women's History: A Core Secular Issue" by Susan Jacoby (available only in print or by subscription)

"Feminism, Religion, and 'Mattering'" by Rebecca Newberger Goldstein

• "Sexism and Religion: Can the Knot Be Untied?" by Katha Politt

Drinks and snacks will be available for purchase at the Secular Hub. Hope to see you there!

This is a very interesting topic and those are some great authors cited. Was planning to join and listen to the discussion. But considering the cold and snow, will stay home. Look forward to hearing thoughts. Hopefully this discussion will be continued. Have fun.

I just realized that this is an evening event-since I live in Fountain south of C/S I'll have to pass. I actually got a copy of this issue from a friend in the PP Skeptics group though~I wish you were meeting earlier in the day...

Do you know that this meeting is open to all, or are you assuming? I am not being sarcastic.
