Join your fellow Humanists for Family Fun Night at Tubman Center West. Once a month, we host an evening event for the residents who are staying in the shelter. It is lot of fun and the residents really appreciate all of our efforts. On this night, we will be celebrating Valentine’s Day with a rousing game of bingo and treats for all to share.
Your donation of a small bingo prize suitable for either a child or mother will be appreciated for this event--whether volunteering or not. Norma will collect and wrap the prizes. You can email her from this website to arrange pick up.
Volunteers will meet in the shelter at 6 pm. The program runs from 6:30 to 8:30. We will set up before the program, join the residents for the fun part and then straighten up after.
Afterward we will reconvene for friendly fellowship at the nearby Jackson’s Coffee and Gelato, 822 W. Lake St, Minneapolis.
Parking is available in the lot at 3111 First Ave. South. If that lot is full, we can park across 1st Ave. at the Police Station.
To enter Tubman, walk around the building from the parking lot to the Shelter Entrance on 31st Street. Bertina, our site-based point-person, will meet us at this entrance.
Tubman is a secular non-profit dedicated to helping “women, children and families struggling with relationship violence, substance abuse and mental health…” http://tubman.org/home/about-us/
Volunteers are expected to undergo training to help out at the Tubman Center. The next training will be on Saturday, March 7th so save the date now if you are interested in volunteering with us in the future. For further information contact Nancy Somers at [masked]
