Join your Humanist friends and become a trained volunteer at the Tubman Center. Tubman is a secular non-profit dedicated to helping “women, children and families struggling with relationship violence, substance abuse and mental health…” http://tubman.org/home/about-us/ The Humanists of MN is partnering with Tubman to support their work in the community.
The training on March 8th will cover the agency history, core services, whom and how they serve, ethics/boundaries, communication, the helping role, biases and self-care. NOTE: In addition to signing up here on Meet Up, you need to register with Joanie Braun at Tubman, [masked] or[masked]-6680. Let her know you plan to volunteer with the Humanists of MN.
Trained individuals will bring a monthly Friday evening game night to the families in safe shelter at the Tubman West Center in Minneapolis. This is a fun way to get out and do meaningful work in the community! After each event, volunteers will reconvene at a neighborhood bar/restaurant for more socializing. The Humanists of MN is regularly scheduled for Family Fun Nights on the 2nd Friday of each month.
If this volunteer work is of interest to you, please try to make time for the orientation and training now so you are ready for future fun nights.
