****SPECIAL NOTICE: PLEASE SEE FOOD DRIVE INFO BELOW****
Our May Monthly Gathering features Faisal Saeed Al-Mutar, Founder of the Global Secular Humanist Movement. Born and raised in Iraq, Faisal lived as an open atheist in the Middle East while writing openly about humanism and secularism for publications such as Big Think and The National Post.
While in Iraq he also founded the Global Secular Humanist Movement, a Facebook group which now has over 177,000 followers. As a result of these activities Faisal received death threats which resulted in him seeking asylum in the United States, where he now resides in Houston, Texas.
Our City-Wide Monthly Gathering is the cornerstone of all HOH activities, where people from the entire Houston and surrounding areas are invited to come. We generally start with announcements and a brief presentation of a humanist topic, followed by guest speaker and Q&A/discussion.
