Joint meeting with Human Values Network

  • Jun 22, 2014 · 12:00 PM
  • This location is shown only to members

Location: Basta Pasta Restaurant, 60 Timonium Rd., Timonium, MD. Lunch begins at 12 noon, and the lecture/discussion begin at about 1 pm.  The restaurant has a variety of inexpensive Italian and American selections.

Presented by Bill Creasy. The topic will be: "What makes something matter? What does it actually mean for something, like an action, to 'matter'? Is mattering a concept that has to do with humans as social animals? Does mattering and purpose have a secular definition, even though religious people would argue that only religion gives purpose? These questions will be considered in the talk and discussion." Bill Creasy will introduce the topic, followed by open discussion.

We welcome a diversity of views, for open-minded discussion, where we can learn from each other.
