I'm starved for discussions with critical thinkers. I need to light up that part of my brain that responds to bonding with other people. <wry grin> I've had contact with too many religious folks who tell me to have a blessed day... and more. I can appreciate all the good things about them, but... Also, I'm hoping to find people who are more interested in science and the search for understanding our world... something I find lacking in most people around me these days. My father just died, my sons have moved away and have less time for discussions, and too many of my friends believe in god. My son, getting his PhD in neurobiology, told me I should join Humanist groups! (I think I taught him well, and of course, both of my sons have been teaching me since they were born.) Looks like this group meets in NoVa sometimes, which is convenient for me. DC works, too.
I'm hoping for discussions with like-minded people to broaden my reading and understanding, possible contacts and venues to foster separation of church and state, and to be part of a community that fulfills human needs while replacing religion.
