Third Sunday Lecture Series: Legislative Prayer

The State: Thou Shalt Not Pray for Us:
The Constitutionality and Political Ramifications of Legislative Prayer

The Town of Greece, NY has quite the Constitutional battle on their hands. An Atheist and a Jew have taken on the City’s embrace of Christian-pray before legislative sessions. Linda Stephens and Susan Galloway are fighting the good fight; their case has reached the highest court in the land, and we will be discussing the merits of their case, the legal arguments from both sides, the history of legislative prayer, and the social, political, and constitutional ramifications of this situation.

HASD President Jason Frye will cover the relevant issues and lead a rousing debate on the merits of both sides of the argument.

Join Humanists, Atheists, Agnostics and other secularists 6 p.m. Sunday the 17th at the Joyce Beers Uptown Community Center (1270 Cleveland Ave *please park in the underground level).
