Sunday Secular Sojourns (Hikes & Other Adventures)

  • Dec 22, 2013 · 12:30 PM

At its core Humanism balances the head and the heart. It is more than just denying gods – it is about embracing life and celebrating the human experience. One of many fantastic ways of doing that is to take a break from our busy urban routines, and enjoy a relaxing, yet exciting, sojourn through the wild. San Diego City and County present an abundance of natural treasures to revere and enjoy. Every Sunday morning at 11 join the Humanist Association as we explore the wild wonders that San Diego has to offer.

Please wear comfortable walking shoes, bring sunscreen, a good attitude, water, and snacks, if desired. The trails will be of changing difficulty and accessibility (some may be for more experienced hikers, but we will try to vary the challenge of each week's trail).

We hope to see you there. Come explore with us!

    Question; What do you think?

There is this quote, ‘’… everyone will understand because they are the same that far down.’’ Kerouac (1950)

Now, how about this, ” You know the bright white light of peace and understanding that many people have talked and written about, that light at the end of the tunnel as they approached death?… It is then, that… everyone will understand because they are the same that far down. Your ‘Awakening to Communality’ is the moment when you realize that the bright white light of peace and understanding is yours to enjoy right now, in this one life that you know is yours to live.
In fact, you now realize, that light is the spark of life that created you, and you would like to get back to enjoying the individual contentment and heartfelt happiness that is your birthright to enjoy fully. All this is yours when you know that we are all the same that far down.’’
