Weekly Freethinker's Forum

  • Jan 11, 2014 · 6:00 PM

Every Saturday evening we meet up to talk about current events from a Secular Humanist and Progressive Atheist perspective.

We cover a bit of everything from the separation of church & state, to the problematic things that religious fundamentalists do, to politics and human rights, and usually wrap up with an overview of the week's scientific breakthroughs and developments.

The presentation is facilitated by Jason Frye through a series of slides and videos. We carry on in a humorous, deep, irreverent, and fun fashion.

Our discussions are rarely boring, and often quite edgy. This is not merely a lecture: Everyone gets a chance to have their say!

The Bamboo Lounge & T-Deli has a diverse menu, and full bar.

We hope you can join us for a fantastic evening!

Freethinker's Forum (a.k.a. Coffee and Conversation or C&C) is one of HASD's staple activities, and the latest one was as good as ever. Jason, as always, researched and prepared thoroughly for it, and therefore it was very interesting and informative. I think the segment that provoked the most conversation was the one involving Lyndon B Johnson and his "War on Poverty."

Jason and I will be about 15 minutes late due to a shower issue. Sorry for the inconvenience.

    On Exposing Esotericism:
From Wikipedia; “… belonging to an inner circle, intended for or likely to be understood by only a small number of people with a specialized knowledge or interest, or an enlightened inner circle.”

On exposing the esotericism of uncountable numbers of groups, who think they know better than you do regarding how to help you feel more personal contentment and heartfelt happiness in this one life that you know is yours to live.

The Spark of Life; you either have it, or you are No Longer Alive.
All your thoughts all your words, and all your actions can be understood as either moving you away from your personal Spark of Life – Light, or moving you toward your personal Spark of Life – Light.
When you are moving away you feel discontent and sadness.
When you are moving toward you feel contentment and happiness.

Question; These next words should be right up Diagon Alley… oops… I meant Atheist Alley, or most certainly Agnostic Alley. What do you think?

The Spark of Life; you either have it, or you are No Longer Alive:
Irrefutable Logic makes it an Absolute Truth.
An Absolute Truth, once understood, is also a Truth you can Absolutely Trust with your Life.
If you have Doubts, then you may be physically alive, but emotionally and intellectually Near-Death.
When’s the last time you were in touch with your Personal Spark of Life?[masked]
… You can do it yourself, or we can help…
    …You – Simplified, Find out Why…
    … Contact: [masked]…
… Yes it’s free, unless you would like to make a donation to help spread the word…
