If you do, how do you label yourself (Humanist, Ethical Culturist, Atheist, Skeptic, Religious, etc)?

Smile at strangers; talk to them as if they're family members. I think most, if not all, people have goodness in them and don't need doctrine as a moral compass. I do think, though, that humans need fellowship; and traditions; and even rituals.

Welcome to Humanism San Diego, How did you hear about us, and what gives us the fortune of having your company?

For years before I had a term for it. I am more a Spiritual Humanist because I definitely do not discard spirituality or the supernatural, but I have believed for a very long time that human morals do not depend on the existence of a god.

What would you like to see from our group?

I had experiences good and bad with Christianity; it was on and off for years. I've come to feel that blind faith may not be for me; especially held toward a "god" of such impotent omnipotence. Has mythology actually ever solved human problems?

How long have you considered yourself to be a Humanist?

I used to think that I came up with the term HUMANIST, and that others would say 'Oh yes, I think I understand what you mean by that'; now to find out that there are concepts and boundaries of humanism that have been outlined and discussed for years.

Hi, I'm Randy. I'm actually a Spiritual Humanist, but haven't yet found others on Meetup. Maybe others in this group will have similar thoughts.
