Hello, Bill.

Just want to let you know I'll be leaving Oceanside where I live at about 1 or 1:15 for Balboa Pk.
I can bring some beer and pretzels. Anything else needed like water or ?

Looking forward to meeting you!
Feel free to call me if you like.

Subject: [humanism-184] New Event: You asked for it!

Announcing a new event for The San Diego Humanism Meetup Group!

What: You asked for it!

When: Sunday, December 2, 2:00 PM

Where: Click the link below to find out!

Event Description: (Well, at least some of you did.) While only about 1 in 4 members have responded to the polls (they're still open, by the way!), I'm going to take a shot at honoring the preferences of those who did respond and this meetup will be outdoors at Balboa Park. I don't have a big banner or tent to set up, so I'll try to come up with some kind of poster, but you might have to, yes, look around, and maybe actually walk up to someone you've never met and... ask. smile By the way, I'm quite open to specific suggestions for other venues for the future, just click on "Contact me".

I hope to snag a picnic table in the northeast section of the park near Jacaranda Place. Alcohol is permitted in this area of the park until 8pm. Bring whatever you like to bring to a park outing: beverages, magical creatures, snacks, armored vehicles, children, dirigibles, etc. I'll probably drag a cooler and a frisbee.

It seems there are a number of people signed up for this group who have limited exposure to Humanism as a philosophy, so this might be a good opportunity for learning a little about the basics. I'll bring along a few copies of books and magazines and of course answer questions as best I can. If it turns out that it makes more sense to talk about something specific I have a few topic ideas as well.

Just a reminder: is ORGANIZED online, but it is NOT an online community. It really works only if you actually show up in person. Besides, I spend way too much time in front of a computer for work to make it the vehicle for my social life. I'm looking forward to meeting you IN PERSON at Balboa Park on the 2nd! smile
