Hey everyone, this weekend is going to be outstanding.
We are doing two great events, showing are support for peace rather than war and recognizing that our common interests of ritual celebration and rational philosophy.
This weekend, 3/15/08 we will be marching with the American Humanist Banner, and quite possibly our Separate Church and State Banner that always graces University Ave once a year on a usually hot summer morning. This Saturday there is a 20% chance of rain, but we aren't going to let a mild drizzle...
or in the words of a true San Diegan "TORRENTIAL DOWNPOUR!!! DEAR LORD STAY OFF THE ROADS> DUCK AND COVER AND HIDE YOUR CHILDREN."...
spoil the events of the day.
This Sunday (3/16) Paul will present a rousing chat on evolution, with a book review of Michael Shirmer's "Why Darwin Matters" by me.
We will also be recognizing the Vernal Equinox. Though; as Humanists, most of us don't subscribe to divinely inspired days of remembrance; we can and should celebrate the finer points of the year. Next week the sun crosses the equator yet again and new days of warmth and longer periods of daylight are upon us. And time for more yummy avocados and oranges.
Lately Shawn GIllick has stepped up to the plate and began to provide more of our communication and bulletins. Shawn has done a terrific job with the webpage and now is creating a niche for himself as HASD's new go-to guy. He has been doing terrific work and we thank him for it.
See you at Joyce Beers this Sunday at 1 pm
hope you all have a terrific week
