A wonderful buffet lunch immediately follows the Forum (see below).
NOTE: Approximately 40 to 60 people have been recently attending the Forum each Sunday. Most of them probably don't even know that we're now listing our meetings on Meetup.com, so the number of Meetup RSVPs for our events are normally extremely low. But don't let that fool you! As was mentioned, there are normally approximately 40 to 60 people in attendance for each Forum, no matter how many Meetup RSVPs are listed for a given Meetup event.
We also have a Free Thought Discussion group every Wednesday night at 7:30pm, an Academic Video group every Thursday night at 8pm. We also have other non-regularly scheduled events from time to time.
The Humanist Community in Silicon Valley is a member chapter of the American Humanist Association.
Our Values - Freedom, compassion, fairness, and scientifically reasoned knowledge.
Our Vision - A human population leading ethical and personally fulfilling lives that contribute to the greater good of humanity.
Our Mission - To support the social and intellectual needs of our members and to live by and promote our values and vision
The Forum is held every Sunday at the Student Center at the Palo Alto High School (at the corner of El Camino Real and Embarcadero Road in Palo Alto) from 11 a.m. until noon. The Student Center is next to the Main Quad in the center of the campus.
A wonderful buffet lunch is served immediately after the Forum from noon until 1:30 p.m. The lunch is free for first time visitors and students. Otherwise we ask for a donation of $10 to $12. If you can't afford that, please give what you can, and please join us for lunch. We hope to see you at an upcoming Humanist Community in Silicon Valley Sunday Forum soon! And feel free to find out about our other Humanist Community events and activities by going to http://www.humanists.org/calendar.htm.
If you would like to suggest a meetup for our forum or otherwise, please feel free to use the discussion board or send a message to the organizer, Laura Mappin. (Brian and Ann are backups.)
Also, feel free to e-mail me (by clicking on "email me" under my picture to the left) if you have any questions about the group.
