Our main event each week is a Sunday Forum which features a different speaker each Sunday discussing some topic of interest. A wide variety of topics are covered from week to week. NOTE: Approximately 70 to 80 people have been recently attending the Forum each Sunday. Most of them probably don't even know that we're now listing our meetings on Meetup.com, so the number of Meetup RSVPs for our events are normally extremely low. But don't let that fool you! As was mentioned, there are normally approximately 70 to 80 people in attendance for each Forum, no matter how many Meetup RSVPs are listed for a given Meetup event.
We also have a Free Thought Discussion group every Wednesday night at 7:30pm, an Academic Video group every Thursday night at 8pm, and an "On Your Mind" group the first and third Tuesday of each month at 7pm. We also have other non-regularly scheduled events from time to time. from the American Humanist Association's website. (The Humanist Community in Silicon Valley is a member chapter of the American Humanist Association.) A very simple description of Humanism is a desire to, without supernaturalism, enhance compassion, fairness, happiness, rationality, and science throughout the world.
The Forum is held every Sunday at the Student Center at the Palo Alto High School (at the corner of El Camino Real and Embarcadero Road in Palo Alto) from 11 a.m. until noon. The Student Center is next to the Main Quad in the center of the campus. A wonderful buffet lunch is served immediately after the Forum from noon until 1:30 p.m. The lunch is free for first time visitors and students. Otherwise we ask for a $7 to $10 donation. If you can't afford that, please give what you can, and please join us for lunch.
