ATHEISM: A personal relationship with reality.
(This is a virtual event. We'll let you know when we will meet at the billboard.)
Do you think the typical driver will get the message? Hopefully they will be inspired to check out the website of the San Diego Coalition of Reason where they can connect to the HFSD meetup group.
The San Diego Coalition of Reason (SDCoR) is a partnership of humanist, atheist, agnostic, freethought, skeptic, and secular organizations. Their primary mission is to reach out to our likeminded neighbors and help them become involved in the educational and social opportunities offered by member organizations. The Humanist Fellowship of San Diego is one of ten original members of SDCoR, and continues to benefit from SDCoR efforts to promote local groups.
To improve their effectiveness, SDCoR partners with national organizations whenever possible. This year American Atheists has agreed to help by sharing the cost of a billboard conceived and designed by SDCoR.
You might wonder what impact a billboard can have. The 2009 billboard that launched SDCoR resulted in a great deal of print and television press (including a segment on CNN), and a 400% increase in activity on our websites. We expect nothing less from this year's campaign.
The new billboard is 14 x 48 feet, and will be on one of San Diego's freeways... exact location to be determined.
Donations of any amount are appreciated. We just hope all of you will participate in some way to advance freethought in our community.
Donate $25 to $99 and your name will appear on the SDCoR website. Donate $100 or more and you will also receive a reserved seat to the David Silverman event on February 24th (4-6 pm), plus entry into a private dinner party with David following the event.
DONATE HERE (All donations will be used solely for this billboard. If there are extra funds, they will be used for publicity efforts on behalf of all member organizations of the SDCoR, including HFSD.)
At a future date to be determined, the Humanist Fellowship will plan to meet near the billboard with other SDCoR groups for a photo like the one above. This photo has appeared hundreds of times, and always makes us feel great about what we have accomplished in a few short years.
Thank you for your support!
