Recovering from Religion May Meetup

Come on out, unburden yourselves of your religious hang-ups, and laugh or cry over the stories our members tell. It's very cathartic, almost perversely enjoyable.

Our meetings tend to be small, so everyone has a chance to share or bring up any topic of personal interest. You never know who is going to show up, but whatever happens is always an enjoyable surprise.

We are meeting at the City-Heights Public Library, conveniently located near Hwy 15 between Hwy 8 and Hwy 94. We are meeting on Sunday afternoons so that we might have an opportunity to meet more of our members who would like to attend, but cannot join us on Wednesday evenings.

Hope to see you there!

About Recovering from Religion:

Leaving religion is full of potential problems, both emotional and practical.  How will I tell my parents and extended family? How will this affect my marriage? How do I break the news to my religious friends and what if it disrupts the friendship? How to deal with child rearing issues? Who can I talk to about my feelings without being told, “You just need more faith.” (as if the problem is simply that not being gullible enough.)

Recovering from Religion talks about all these and more.

If getting out of religion is important to you, RR can help you navigate the new world of satisfied skepticism. Through local support groups, we offer the opportunity to explore the negative impact of religion in your life, without judgment. We can help you get connected to the many folks who, just like you, are embracing a life beyond faith.

We had a small group this time. But in some ways, that made it better. It was nice to hear about new member Claudia's story. And I also enjoyed Debbie's extended story as well as Phil's informative tidbits on historical aspects of religion that most Xtians are unaware of.
