Springtime is the best time of year for hiking in San Diego. HFSD members and guests are invited to a hike at the Blue Sky Reserve that features beautiful views of Lake Poway and many colorful wildflowers. We will do this hike at close to the peak of wildflower season. This hike also provides a good chance to see wildlife, especially birds.
This hike is about five miles long and will take about two hours. We will wait for everyone. The hike is of average difficulty. The most difficult part is the climb to the dam at Lake Poway. After that, it's fairly easy. Hikers should be in fairly good shape to participate. The main hazard here is rattlesnakes, but they are not a problem if one uses normal precautions.
What to bring: plenty of water, sunglasses, sunscreen and a wide-brimmed hat. Sturdy hiking shoes or boots are recommended. Feel free to contact Wilfredo if you have any questions about the hike.
Let's treat ourselves to a delicious lunch after the hike at Luc's Bistro, 12642 Poway Road between Silver Lake Drive and Ridgedale Drive. This restaurant serves great comfort food at reasonable prices and has healthy and vegetarian choices.
