Earth Fair 2014

Mark your calendars for the Annual EarthFair in Balboa Park.

San Diego's Earth Fair is the world's largest free annual environmental fair and Earth Day Celebration!

The Humanist Fellowship of San Diego will have a booth next to other Freethought, humanist and atheist groups of the San Diego Coalition of Reason. Our booths will be along El Prado near the Museum of Man (booths 124, 125 and 126). Come visit us, or better yet, offer to spend two hours in the booth, helping us let people know about HFSD, humanism, and why humanist values better address the issues facing us as inhabitants of our vulnerable planet.

Come early, stay late, socialize with your fellow humanists and have loads of fun! There are hundreds of exhibits, musical events, and FOOD, FOOD, FOOD. The crowd is expected to reach up to 70,000.

Bring some spending money... we will have some atheist/humanist goodies for sale.

WE NEED YOUR HELP!

Help HFSD by signing up for one two-hour shift to "work" at the booth. Hand out information, and tell others about humanism and the activities of the Humanist Fellowship. Pick a time, 11-2, 1-3, 3-5. When you register, leave a message about when you can help. Debbie will be in touch to confirm your volunteer time. Your help is greatly appreciated, and we guarantee you will have a blast! No special talents are needed. Just be a friendly face greeting the public. If you wish, you can engage in polite discussions with passersby about humanism, and issues important to nonbelievers. Otherwise, we just like to tell everyone about upcoming events, and how to connect with us through Meetup.

I'm always impressed at the number of people at Earth Day who agree with us. I had quite a few pleasant conversations with people interested in our group. Of course, it's also fun to debate the Bible-thumpers/Jewish zombie believers, but they visited earlier and fellow members dealt with them and enjoyed doing so. It was a beautiful day and an enjoyable experience!

Always a fun day meeting people who have never heard of humanism, let alone the Humanist Fellowship of San Diego.

Debbie: If you like, I can work early to help setup or late to break down by working around my regular Sunday job.

Hi Mike! Right now, the end of the day would be great. The fair ends at 5, but we cannot get our tents to vehicles until they open up the roads at 6. So... we pack up at 5, then... load everything up at 6. Thank you for volunteering!
