Atheists in Foxholes - Commemorative Service Aboard the USS Midway

Atheists have served in the U.S. Armed Forces since the country's founding, helping to defend the freedoms we all hold dear. You are all invited to help commemorate their service.

The event will include admission and a free audio tour of the USS MIDWAY. The event is free to all attendees, but donations to MAAF, the Military Association of Atheists and Freethinkers, will be accepted. Parking at the museum is $10.

You must meet the USS Midway host at 12:45. S/he will escort you as a group to the proper place on board. After the ceremony you are free to enjoy the audio tour and the ship.

Your RSVP is required so that we can provide sufficient seating and an accurate guest list to the Midway Box Office.

NOTE: The Rock and Roll Marathon sprints by the Midway in the morning. They will be gone by the time you would be arriving for the ceremony. Here is a link to official road closure information:

    To All,

Thank you for participation in this unique event. I wanted to put out a few things before Sunday:

    - Entry to the MIDWAY for the event will begin at 12:45. There will be a MIDWAY volunteer outside of the entrance with a sign that says 'Foxhole Atheists'. He will escort the group to the event location. The staff will make repeat trips after this, but we cannot guarantee your admittance if you are not with an escorted group.

    - The event and audio tour are free, but USS MIDWAY Museum parking is $10. If you choose not to pay the fee and park outside the venue, please ensure that you allow yourself time to find parking and enough change to feed the parking meter.

I look forward to seeing you all.

This is a very good idea. If I weren't busy with a grant app, I would attend.
