Sunday Assembly San Diego

Sunday Assembly San Diego is a new godless community that meets monthly to hear great talks, sing songs and generally celebrate life. Assemblies are free to attend, and everyone is welcome.

(This program is hosted by Sunday Assembly San Diego, a member organization of San Diego CoR. We encourage HFSD members to enjoy this unique opportunity within our humanist/freethought community.)

D.J. Grothe, our speaker for June, was a professional magician and mentalist who now lectures widely on the psychology of belief and the mental processes of deception and self-deception. He hosts the For Good Reason radio show and podcast that addresses skepticism and pseudoscience, and previously hosted the interview program Point of Inquiry. He is president of the non-profit James Randi Foundation, which in July hosts The Amazing Meeting, a yearly conference of scientists and skeptics. The Foundation also offers the One Million Dollar Paranormal Challenge, which will award a cool mil "to anyone who can show, under proper observing conditions, evidence of any paranormal, supernatural, or occult power or event." Ian Harris, our MC from the April Assembly, has recently finished taping a new comedy TV Special, and is currently on the road with his Critical and Thinking tour. He has been a comedy headliner for years, touring nationally as well as locally on the L.A. alternative comedy scene. He has appeared on Comedy Central, Jimmy Kimmel Live, and The Evolution of Comedy Tour. Ian has been called “hilarious and irreverent,” and is cutting edge, insightful, and a true original.

I have to work again. I work alternate weekends. I sorely want to attend these, I have been to three. I think my schedule will give me July and August. I will you tube the assembly and donate on line to keep this worthwhile program going
