Let's Hike Up Iron Mountain

Let's hike up IM this Sunday morning, bright and early. We'll meet at the trail head at 6:00 am and hike up at a moderate to fast pace with a goal of getting up in 1 hour and down in 1 hour. The terrain is rocky, but you can do it in cross trainers if you don't have hiking boots. Some people like to use poles, but they're not necessary. Bring some water and maybe a snack if you haven't had breakfast.

Heavy rain cancels, but drizzle or fog doesn't.

Hope to see everyone there.

Thanks to all who answered and those of you who gave me a good laugh with comments about the time of the hike ha ha ha530 am for me is a normal time to get up, but this morning I actually slept later because of an exhausting H.S. wrestling tournament that I watched all day yesterday. I know I said watched, not participated in, but it is exhausting nonetheless. Sorry I did not un RSVP So next week 8am WITH wine ha ha ha you guys are hilarious!

We missed you Jim. I'm going up again next Sun at 8 am with another Meetup group called something about hiking and wine for 40s, 50s types. Join us if you'd like. You won't have to get up so damn early. ;-)

I've done this hike before, and it's a good one. But there is no way I'd to it at 6:00 a.m. on a Sunday, especially considering that I typically stay up until 3:00 on Sunday morning! Have fun, ya'll! But watch out for mountain lions. They've been seen at Iron Mountain.

Who the hell gets up at 6 am, let alone goes hiking at that time? Geez. Iron Mountain is a great hike. If you can do Cowles, you can do IM (as Dan says). And, it is prettier and more interesting. Madeline will of course be running circles around everyone...

We are hitting the trail at 6. I'll be getting up about 5 to eat breakfast and get their by 6. I'm hoping to be able to keep up with Madeline, or at least not embarrassing myself ;-). Why don't you join us?

I hike Cowles Mt. fairly often usually 75 minutes up and down. I have never done Iron Mt. Am I gonna die ? LOL

If you can do Cowles, you can do Iron. It's about twice as long in distance. Cowles Mtn hike is about 3 mi round trip with an elevation gain of about 950 ft. The peak is about 1600 ft above sea level. Iron Mtn is about 6.63 miles round trip with an elevation gain of about 1000 ft. The peak is about 2700 ft above sea level with a spectacular 360 degree view. It's a great workout.

IM is a nice variegated hike, much more interesting than Cowles, IMNTBHO. IM has areas where you can catch your breath along the way. It is a much prettier hike than Cowles, which I find boring.

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
