Early Bird Discussion Group -- A Weekly Humanist Conversation

You are invited to join us each week for an eye-opening discussion with the Early Birds!

Why stay home with your Sunday paper when you could get to the meat of the matter as part of an intellectually hungry circle of Humanists.

The week's facilitator is democratically chosen from the attendees to lead the discussion of topics nominated. Topics should relate to the four broad areas of humanist interest: Human Well-being; Secularism; Science/Reason; and Culture and Morality.

Afterward, join others gathered upstairs for coffee and pastries before the main program begins at 10:00 AM.

All are welcome to engage the speaker at AfterThoughts from 11:30-12:15 before heading off to brunch at a nearby eatery.

Be sure to peruse our humanism library while you're here -- books available to lend upon HGP membership.

All Meetup fees are paid by our sponsor through your memberships; donations toward the work of the Humanists of Greater Portland are gratefully accepted.

We look forward to seeing you -- bring a friend!

!4 attended the meeting. A record. Generally, we have been having larger attendance lately. Perhaps Meetup is the reason.
Out of 8 subjects suggested by the attendees, we voted to discuss the The Boston Marathon bombing. It was a good discussion, with several leitmotifs: FBI conspiracy; Chechen anger and violence; media saturation coverage; America's self-absorption.
A wide range of sentiments expressed and discussed in a civil manner.
