Open Discussion: In the News, Humanist POV, or ? Vote Your Favorite -1st Sunday

Join a circle of humanists in conversation, choose the topic by consensus and share your point of view at the First Sunday Open Discussion with the Humanists of Greater Portland.

This thoughtful group has covered many hot-button topics -- as well as obscure scientific oddities ;-) We welcome your topic suggestions.

Come early and join others gathered upstairs for coffee and pastries before the main program, then head back downstairs at 10:00 AM for our discussion.

All are welcome to engage the speaker and have a light snack at our meet-and-greet, AfterThoughts, from 11:30-noon before heading off to lunch at a nearby eatery.

Be sure to peruse our humanism library while you're here -- books available to lend upon HGP membership.

All Meetup fees are paid by our sponsor through your memberships; donations toward the work of Humanists of Greater Portland are gratefully accepted.

We look forward to seeing you -- bring a friend!

Science has learned a lot about how the brain shapes human behavior including the predictable biases that contribute to ethnic prejudice, mutually self-defeating conflicts, and other forms of human stupidity. If we are to fix it, we must first understand ourselves. Who said (apologies to feminists), "the proper study of mankind is man." Let's get on it!

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.

Henry, started Reno Motorcycle Riders
