5 x Week: Secular Walk & Talk + Coffee -- Choose a Mall or Park Near You

  • January 27, 2014 · 9:15 AM

This is a joint activity with Secular Walk and Talk (SWAT), a new meetup group formed in cooperation with our walking partners from other Portland-area freethought organizations and comprised of members from the larger secular community. Check the website for this week's locations:

http://www.meetup.com/Secular-Walk-and-Talk/

Please do not RSVP here as this page is not monitored; it is intended to serve HGP members and friends as the beginning-of-the-week reminder of the 5-6 walks scheduled on regular Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays throughout the greater Portland area.

Here is some general information about the walks you'll find when you follow the above link to our new site, where you can leave a comment, ask a question, join to receive updates, or RSVP:

Take a walk in the park (or mall, depending on the weather) -- wear a T-shirt supporting science and reason (if you have one; available on Evolvefish.com or contact HGP.)

We walk with like-minded friends for ~50 minutes, then finish at a nearby coffee vendor.

Arrive a few minutes early so we can make introductions, then start together shortly after 9:15 at our warm-up pace when we can pair up according to our walking rates.

We wait for members who have RSVPd so please cancel if you can't attend. Members who can't come for the walk are invited to join us for caffeinated conversation afterwards.

All ages and abilities are welcome, as are little ones in strollers if the terrain is suitable.

Contact the host for a cell number in case you can't find us; the walk may be cancelled when no RSVPs have been received that week. Most walks are easily accessible by train/bus.

We look forward to seeing you -- tell a friend!

We just grab a coffee and speak French. Some people have been coming every week for months... it creates a kind of warmth to the group.
