You'll meet like-minded friends when you join our Wednesday Westside Walk for Health and Humanism! With the advent of Standard Time we are standardizing our family friendly walks to begin at 9:00 AM.
Do you have a Darwin/humanism/freethought T-shirt? Remember to wear it so we can spread a little science and reason as we walk.
Plan to meet a few minutes early so we can pair up and be ready to start the walk together at 9:00 AM. At the park, we'll meet in the parking lot nearest the trailhead and after 50 minutes of walking, we'll return there to carpool a nearby cafe.
The walk will be held at Washington Square Mall at 9:00 AM if the weather is too wet, cold or windy; details below. Either way, join us afterward for some Caffeinated Conversation at 10:00 AM. (Non-walkers are invited to join us for the coffee hour.)
Are you a Rabbit, Turtle, or Mollusk (those who must travel at a snail's pace)? We hope to have someone in the group who can walk at your speed; if you are a Super-Humanist you may need to bring your own walking partner.
We'll test our limits as we shape up, though we still want to be able to walk-and-talk, so, nothing too strenuous. Don't forget to include about 4 minutes of a warm-up pace to start your walk, then finish with a few minutes at a cool-down pace.
Teens, and older children with adult supervision are welcome, as are babies in strollers.
If we walk at the mall, park near the Washington Square Transit Center bus stop and look for the entrance nestled between Dick's Sporting Goods and JC Penney. We'll be at the long row of tables just past the children's play area, directly across from the restrooms; Starbucks Coffee is around the corner (not the food court.)
We've never cancelled! Steady rain sends us back to the mall but a light sprinkle is a go! To get the Event Host's cell number in case you can't find us, email them from their member page before the activity by clicking on their icon.
All Meetup fees are paid by the Humanists of Greater Portland through your memberships; donations towards the work of HGP are greatly appreciated.
We look forward to seeing you -- bring a friend!
