December Free-Up--Jerry DeWitt

Jerry DeWitt, author of Hope After Faith.

"A former Louisiana pastor’s courageous memoir chronicling his conversion to atheism

Atheism’s leading lights have long been intellectuals raised in the secular and academic worlds: Richard Dawkins, Sam Harris and the late Christopher Hitchens.

By contrast, Jerry DeWitt was born and bred into the church and was in fact a Pentecostal preacher before arriving at atheism through an extraordinary dialogue with faith that spanned more than a quarter of a century.

Hope After Faith is his account of that journey."

Have some people you want to invite to this event? Please do!
This event is FREE! :) Donations are accepted for the use of the building.

These Free-ups will occur at least every other month and have a format that we will follow. When attendees arrive we will take 15 minutes of social time to get to know one another. Following our social a speaker or presenter will have a 20 minute “Free Talk”. Discussion on the presentation will be encouraged for the next 30 minutes and anyone interested in discussing the topic further is encouraged to go meet at another local establishment to continue the conversations.

These events are free but donations are accepted to cover the cost of the facility rental.

Do come out and hear Jerry. I have read his book and it is an amazing story of courage. Also, the UU is not a church that is anti-atheist, as it is accepting of all human thought, so don't be afraid to come to the UU. I am a UU member and I am a freeist humanist.
I am atheist just like Jerry DeWitt. Come join us and support Jerry!

The following needs to be edited out of the location "Walk through, or around Open Books Bookstore to the building behind." It could be confusing to folks.
