HVH TAKEOVER: Tap NY Beer Fest! Hunter Mountain

Welcome to TAP New York!

New York's Largest Craft Beer Festival

50+ Breweries |   200+ Beers

Sunday 4/[masked]pm

ONLINE Purchase recommended! $60.00

http://www.tap-ny.com/purchase.html

TAPSM New York started out 15 years ago with a couple hundred beer fanatics and a handful of craft brewers at the Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park, and has grown into the longest running craft beer and food event in New York State.

TAPSM New York has grown over tenfold through the years to now encompass the entire Base Lodge facilities at Hunter Mountain, plus added tent space. Over 70 invited breweries representing over 200 individual beersoffer everything from IPAs and lagers to wiesbiers, doppel and trippel bocks, stouts, ales... pretty much any variety you know of, and probably a few that you don't.

Craft brewing is alive and growing in New York State. The resurgance of craft brewing, spawned in part by the creative brewers at Saranac and Boston Brewing, has lead to fuller bodied, flavorful brews featuring rich colors, bold flavors, and imaginative ingredients. New craft breweries are opening every year, and we're both happy and proud to welcome them aboard.

TAPSM New York is also about food. Each year we offer plenty to eat.

TAPSM is also a beer competition. Brewers from across the state enter their finest suds to compete for plaques and trophies. Each year on Saturday at TAPSM, highly qualified judges choose the best craft brewery in New York State and also the best brewery in the Hudson Valley. On Sunday, the panel of judges decide the best indiviual beers in both the Hudson Valley and the entire state.

Well it stays there except when Brent snaps an incriminating photo and posts it here for all to see. But I had a great time with everyone. I'm hoping no photos of me show up.

I absolutely hate to do it, as I've been looking forward to this for months, but I have to back out of this. Got home from hiking today and got a call from work re: something that has to be done by Monday morning, so I've got to get it done tomorrow. ugh.

Hello, weather looks great for the event! I will be leaving Highland at 10:30am - It is VERY important to arrive on time :)
We should be at the gate around 11:30 for a 12:00 start, if you want to meet up this would be a good time- Right in-front of the festival gates.
Hope to see you all Sunday, looking forward to a great event. Post-game party is at my house!

Anyone up for room-sharing in the area Saturday night? Or maybe camp somewhere. I'm hiking Graham and Balsam Lake on Saturday and would rather not drive all the way back to NJ. Message me through the link on my profile.

    April 21, 2014

  • alicia

Anyone still need a ticket for Sunday? You can give the cash to Brent and I can get it from him later. I will email you the link to print the ticket.

    April 22, 2014

    • alicia

He will have it for you. You boys can duke it out over manner of payment. Bummer I won't be there for THAT..

    No rides from NYC? :(

    April 21, 2014

    • Brent H.

It's a two hour drive in a car anyway. Bus seems like an option due to the 11:30/12:00 start time. You might consider taking the train up towards Poughkeepsie or Suffern. There are people from those areas. I can definitely get you back, but I'll probably be staying up there Saturday night after hiking Graham and Balsam Lake. I'm happy to pick you up from a bus station in the region.

"Puttin' me in a dress don't make me a lady." ~ Me neither! Or so I've been told. Wait . . . what are we talking about, again?

      April 17, 2014

    • Keith

"Keith is the epitome of class! Or is it crass? I get them mixed up sometimes." ~ I get the feeling that by the end of this 4 hour beer fest, I'll be getting crass and class mixed up, too.

Brent: Tony mentioned to me that when he tried to get a ticket to this at the door last year, it was sold out - though I think he said that was on the Saturday of the Tap New York weekend, and not the Sunday (when we'll be going). Maybe Sunday is usually less crowded? I'd guess that it is. At any rate, I'm not sure how far in advance they usually sell out, but I see some mentions online of it selling out nearly a week in advance some years, but other years tickets seem to still have been available at least a few days beforehand. Note that a few mentions of it having sold out in past years seem to be referring to Saturday selling out - I'm not sure if Sunday ever sells out ahead of time.

Hey everyone. It's my first time attending one of this so I have a question. Besides the price of the ticket, how much it's the beer inside? Just trying to estimate expenses. Thanks.

      April 16, 2014

I will be driving from Englewood, NJ and often pick up riders at the Fort Lee side of the GWB. The thing is, I might want to hike in the Catskills on Saturday and spend the night up there. So I don't know if I'll be driving up on Saturday morning or Sunday morning. Contact me through the email link on my profile and I'll keep you in the loop.

A newbie to drinking? .. lol. Not exactly. Actually, not a newbie to the group either. I joined last spring, went on some hikes but got distracted. So maybe half a group newbie .. lol. Either way, I'm back! .. lol. Looking forward to seeing you all again soon.

When do you recommend buying tickets? My life in March is too fluid to plan this far in advance, but don't want to be left out if they sell out.
