Balsam   [masked],[masked]

These 2 peaks are required for completing your Catskill 3500's. We will start out with Balsam then drive over to Blackhead.

Blackhead [masked], [masked]

This will be a moderately paced hike around 2.0 mph. The Balsam hike will be a simple in and out with pictures and snack on the summit. At Blackhead we will still hike at a faster pace to get it done, pausing only for a picture at the summit. This will be a loop hike going up and over and around the Blackhead Mt

While we are there, time permitting we will do Black Dome & Thomas Cole as well. Thanks Jesse and Tony Aurora for suggesting it.

Micro spikes are REQUIRED!!!

I am aiming to finish the hike by 5 pm.

Mission accomplished - Serafin and Tracy both done hiked Balsam and Blackhead in winter. Now you just have to climb them again at some point - woohoo! Fortunately for us, the predicted rain didn't materialize for more than a minute or two here and there. Serafin: it was good to hike with you again. Tracy: it was a real pleasure meeting you. I had a good time chatting on the trails and I hope to see you again soon.

Keith thanks for coming out and joining me so I didn't have to go it solo. And thanks Tracy for coming out with us. It was good hiking with both of you again. Now I'm setting my sights on Slide for Friday.

Are you still doing this tomorrow? If so, would you prefer to have company (rather than doing it solo)? I had some work stuff cancel that was scheduled for tomorrow and can accompany you, if you like. Looks like you're starting at McKinley Hollow for Balsam, correct? Also, just as a heads up, the link for the Blackhead trailhead, above, also goes to a map for Balsam's McKinley Hollow trailhead.

Keith if you are still planning on coming I would appreciate the company. Thanks for the heads up on the link. Hope to see you at McKinley Hollow for Balsam.

I'll plan on meeting you at the McKinley Hollow trailhead for Balsam tomorrow morning at 9:00 a.m. (since the description says you'll be starting there). See you then . . .
