73 Cross Rd, Windham, NY
A seven mile mid week with a 1700 ft vertical climb to a Catskill High Peak and a summit without a view - typical Catskill hike, but while the summit itself is in the trees, take a few steps to the ridgeline and see what lies north of the Catskills, the vast expanse where the high peaks stop and only the Long Path continues outside the Catskill High Peak trail network (stay tuned for a possible section backpack of the Long Path coming up this summer).
This is a 'at your own pace hike' with no sweep and winter hiking experience and gear is a must, particularly traction devices such as microspikes.
The Trailhead is right off of Rt 23 on the right hand side coming from the Thruway, easy to see and get to, but I'm sure I will need to fiddle with meetup 'location' to get that correct. - Update it is close enough, the trail parking area is at the corner of Cross Rd and Rt 23 & highly visible from Rt 23.
Afterwards we will find a location for some good food and drink.
