Sounds like a great hike! Is it fairly easy to get a cab from the train station to the trail head? Thanks!

Thanks for following up with me, Chris! I ended up at Bear Mtn. yesterday. (I need to figure out how to receive these messages more immediately.) Looks like you all had a blast!

A hiker could not ask for a better day, the weather was perfect. I always love this trail, much less traveled with unique views of the NYC skyline.

Well, I guess that pace and difficulty are in the legs of the hiker. This hike was too fast and difficult for me. I wonder if there is a way to qualify or quantify the words "slow" and "beginner".

I have been trying for 6 years. Unfortunately it's not possible. So I put the mileage with the total hike time so a pace can be calculated. 6 mile hike in 4 hours is 1.5 mph average. It's up to the hiker to know if they can hike 6 miles in 4 hours. There will be other options in the future and hope you make it out again, it was very nice meeting you.

Oh, I didn't expect to get in to this one. Are there any available cars that I can hitch a ride in? I could go to Brooklyn, Manhattan, Bronx, Queens. I can help with tolls and gas.

    • Jonathan

I got a ride, see you guys there!

Not a beginner, but this hike is in my backyard and Breakneck, Bull Hill, and Mt Beacon are just too crowded on weekends.

    Grey,
I can pick you up at the station if you like. I live in the area so it would be no problem. Just let me know.
